RIP Lee "Scratch" Perry - Master of Dub

Lee "Scratch" Perry has died. The visionary Jamaican producer sent reggae into the echo chamber at the mixer, bringing the spirits of dub to life. He remained productive to the end. There were concerts and albums regularly. It was almost forgotten that Lee "Scratch" Perry was an old man. At 85 he died on Sunday in Jamaica. His dazzling life and his sprawling work will still reverberate forever - the master of dub has made sure of that. #thankyouforthe music #dub #dubreggae #leescratchperry

Toumani Diabaté And The London Symphony Orchestra

TOUMANNI DIABATÉ & LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: "Kôrôlén"

The world-renowned kora virtuoso Toumani Diabaté from Mali forms the African part of the project with five other musicians from the West African country of Mali on the instruments balafon, guitar, ngoni lute, percussion and vocals. On the new album Diabaté & Co. can be heard together with the London Symphony Orchesra, "LSO". This is the first time the 21-string West African harp guitar Kora has been heard in a symphonic context. The music from Africa is not overwhelmed by orchestral abundance. The LSO, reduced to 30 musicians, proceeds very carefully: It supports the sounds and grooves of the Africans, leaves them space in which their improvisations can unfold and adds sound textures to them. #toumanidiabate #diabate #lso #londonsymphonyorchestra #kora #africa #yassassin

Ozan Ata Canani - Alle Menschen Dieser Erde

OZAN ATA CANANI: "Warte mein Land, warte"

The guest worker's son Ozan Ata Canani was the first migrant to sing in German. Now finally an album is coming out with songs by the singer / songwriter that are much more than historical documents.
He still says "guest workers". Because that was his father, who believed in returning home until his death. And that was Ata Canani himself when he came to Germany at the age of twelve. An "ozan" is a poet, the word almost an honorary title in Turkey. The fact that Ata Canani now calls himself Ozan is also self-empowerment, because the 57-year-old is not a celebrity in his country of birth or in Germany, where he has lived for 45 years. He would have to be one instead of living on welfare if his music had not been lost in the history of the Federal Republic. #ozanatacanani #baglama #gastarbeiter #canani
