Anyone who hears Bouzouki probably has folk music from the last Mykonos
holiday in mind, but nothing reminiscent of Hallouminati remotely. The
London band uses the Greek string instrument as the nuance of their
multicultural orchestral folkmusic - but only as one of many influences.
Reggae and Ska are as firmly rooted in it as afrobeat, Balkan brass and
lots of funk. With their first album "Tonight, Is Heavy" Hallouminati
manage to bring the dynamics of their concerts to disk without energy
loss.
